Step 1: HFSS Simulation Test (40-60 days based on dual polarization )

HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) is a powerful electromagnetic simulation software used for antenna design. It allows engineers to analyze and optimize antenna performance by simulating electromagnetic fields and predicting radiation patterns of frequency range, gain, polarization, S11, half-power beamwidth and other important parameters.

To simulate the performance of 5G antennas with multiple bands and dual polarization, it currently takes 8 hours to complete the testing. This includes simulating the four band arrays, the four bands combiner, the reflector, and the radome. Unfortunately, even if the engineer does not need to test, the HFSS can only run three times.

Step 2: Optimized design and generate CAD drawings (2 days )

To ensure that the HFSS design is thoroughly verified and optimized, we will take the necessary steps to review all parameters and performance metrics. Once the design is confirmed, we will proceed with generating the CAD drawing for the prototype and sample. This process, including verification, optimization, and CAD drawing generation, will be completed within two working days.

Step 3: Prepare the material for the prototypes (5-7 days)

On average, it takes PCB suppliers 5-7 working days to prepare and manufacture the antenna array materials, such as FR4 or F4B. This time frame includes the domestic shipping time as well.

Step 4: Prototype testing (1-2 days)

The antenna prototype is tested in an anechoic chamber to measure and analyze the electromagnetic radiation pattern. Engineer can accurately measure and analyze the antenna’s performance, identify any design flaws, and optimize the antenna’s radiation characteristics for specific applications.

Step 5: Shipping to the USA(4-5 days)

Normally, we will arrange the shipment by DHL since it’s the fastest channel for prorotypes. There is no big difference on the freight cost compared with FedEx/UPS.

We can also use a special channel if it’s not urgent and the packaging size is big. The import tariff and customs clearance can be included. This can save you a lot of money.

Step 6: Trial order without making any new tooling/mold (12-18 days)

Once the prototypes are received and tested in a real-world conditions and get approved. It’s suggested to place a small quantity trial order. This way, any potential problems or defects can be identified and resolved before moving forward with mass production.

Step 7: Mass production (15-25 days)

Once the trial order has been successfully completed without any issues, we can proceed with mass production of the new antenna product. What we need to do next is to reduce the cost without compromise on the product quality and performance.
